Serena Beach Radio Survivor (*SBRS*) is a non commercial Radio Station which can only be received via the Internet.

For its reception a decoder is needed, which will be automatically installed the first time you visit our radio.

This decoder contains NO virus nor spyware nor trojan horse or any other malware.

It serves only the reception of our audio stream in the "aac plus v2" format.

The aac plus-Stream guarantees, even with a low data rate (here 24kbit/sec), a very good sound quality.

For uninterrupted reception a broad band an analog modem is sufficient.

*SBR* spreads on the Internet in the "p2p" mode (p2p = Peer to peer).

This means: Every listener is concurrent transmitter as well.

A listener must be able to at least uplink 1 Stream (preferably 2!).

In other words, with the reception of 24kBit/sec, one also engages an uplink of min. 24kBit/sec (3 Kbyte!).

This happens in the background and is transparent to the listener.

But, there are a few things to consider:

  • While listening to *SBRS*, please, disabel all filesharing programs, such as eDonkey, Bearshare etc.
  • Don't exhaust your uplink capacity with file transfere of any other kind.
  • The concurrent use of Yahoo Messenger or MSN etc. normally does not interfere. But, please, postpone your WEBCAM conference until you finished listening to *SBRS*.

The same counts for audio conferences and internet telephony.

In all abovementioned cases the listeners who receive the stream from your PC and those behind those might have interruptions which are caused by you..

With ultra broad band connections these limitations normally do not apply.

But even here is important: Limit you upling speed in file sharing programs so, that at least 80kBit/sec remain unused and free for *SBRS*.

Our radio community will be grateful!
